Description
Introducing perhaps the most talked-about red in our tasting room … Stoney Creek! Gorgeously soft, fruity and full of ripe cherry and raspberry, it's a seriously addictive drop, and there's nothing quite like it in the UK right now. So what makes it so special … and rare?
It's a unique cuvee chiefly made with soft, fruity Tarrango … an Aussie grape that produces lights, juicy reds in the hot climate there. Stoney Creek is made by the excellent Victorian Alps Winery, whose top wines received a Five-Star rating in James Halliday's Aussie Wine Guide 2008.
The team, including innovative winemaker Andrew Vesey, wanted to make a red that was as fruity as possible, so they applied the techniques used by Beaujolais' best to make their wines soft, juicy and velvet smooth … think supple Pinot Noir, Cru Beaujolais and you'll be along the right lines - but a touch of Shiraz gives spicy body. Try it now while stocks last!
Super-ripe black cherry and raspberry, with a hint of peppery spice. Great with roast duck, but also an ideal glass on its own, lightly chilled.
