Serving suggestions
This densely flavoured red is best for now served with food - red meats will sweeten the tannins in the wine. Enjoy with roast beef, a juicy steak, garlicky lamb or hard cheeses.

Description
Argentina may have been slow off the starting blocks when it came to wine, but it is now proving itself extremely able. The revered American publication Wine Spectator praised the country: "Argentina is finally delivering world-class reds from Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon ... Argentina is turning out some of the world's most exciting reds."

Like Chile just over the Andes, Argentina is a grape-growers paradise - reliable sunshine, plentiful water from the Andes' snowmelt, a huge choice of terroir at a great range of altitudes and great clarity of light that ultimately produces fabulous flavour in the wines.

This is a rich, powerfully fruity Cabernet from the Andean Vineyards cellar in Mendoza. They were one of the first to export their wines in the 1970s and are today one of the most advanced in the country, with the highest tally of awards. They also have a well-equipped cellar in San Juan.

Winemaker for this fine Reserve is Opi Sadler who, earlier this year, was awarded the Trophy for top Malbec at the Argentinian Wine Awards. He rigorously selected the pick of the Cabernet crop, ageing the traditionally fermented wine in oak barrels for three months to give it a rich layer of toasty spice and scented vanilla.
